urdU verbs (zAd, Ghayn, fe, qAf) / उर्दू अफ़्`आल (ज़, ग़, फ़, क़)

This is a list of non-compound hindUstAnI verbs that have the zAd (ض), Ghayn (غ), fe (ف), and qAf (ق) of the fArsI alphabet as the first letter. See my earlier post "A Deluge of Verbs ...?" for a background. This list was generated by mining the online version of Platts' Dictionary, and is a verbatim copy of the entries therein. This list may not be exhaustive & complete.

H ضدنا ẓidnā, v.n.=ẓid karnā, q.v.s.v. ẓid.

H غٿکنا g̠uṭaknā (=guṭaknā, q.v.), v.n. To coo.

H فرانا farrānā (prob. akin to S. स्फुर्), v.n. To snort or sneeze (a horse); to move briskly; to come quickly.

H فرفرانا farfarānā (=pharpharānā, q.v.), v.n. To snort (as a horse, &c.).

H فرمانا farmānā (fr. farmān), v.t. To order, command; (in polite or respectful speech with reference to superiors, &c.) to say, affirm, declare; to make, do (=karnā); to grant, deign, vouchsafe, commit (to);--s.m. Ordering, order, command:--farmā-denā, v.t. intens. of and=farmānā.
