urdU verbs (Khe) / उर्दू अफ़्`आल (ख़)

This is a list of non-compound hindUstAnI verbs that have the Khe (خ) of the fArsI alphabet as the first letter. See my earlier post "A Deluge of Verbs ...?" for a background. This list was generated by mining the online version of Platts' Dictionary, and is a verbatim copy of the entries therein. This list may not be exhaustive & complete.

H خامنا ḵẖāmnā (fr. ḵẖām?), v.t. To close (the mouth of a vessel) with earth, or flour, &c.; to close, to seal, fasten (a letter, &c.):--ḵẖām-denā, and ḵẖām-karnā = ḵẖāmnā.

H خرادنا ḵẖarādnā (fr. ḵẖarād), v.t. To turn on a lathe; (met.) to worry, to torment.

H خراشنا ḵẖarāshnā, v.t. To scrape, scratch, claw, lacerate.

H خرچنا ḵẖarćnā, vulg. ḵẖaraćnā (fr. ḵẖarć), v.t. To expend, spend (=ḵẖarć karnā); to use, bring into use; to bring out, to utter, to produce;--to sell.

H خريدنا ḵẖarīdnā [ḵẖarīd, q.v.+nā = anā = Prk. अणअं=S. अनीयं], v.t. To buy, purchase;--to bring upon (ooneself), to reap.

H خمانا ḵẖamānā (fr. P. ḵẖam), v.t. To bend, twist, crook, bow; to coil; to curl.

H خنا ḵẖannā, s.m. Conceit, vanity:--ḵẖanne ćalnā, v.n. To walk or act conceitedly, to be affected, to strut, &c.; to swagger; to be quarrelsome.

H خنخنانا ḵẖan-ḵẖanānā, vulg. ḵẖun-ḵẖunānā (fr. A. ḵẖan-ḵẖana, rt. ḵẖan, 'to make a sound from the nose'), v.n. To snuffle, to speak through the nose.
